Another day out at Mae Suai Dam! Really enjoy it here and the rafting is good fun 🙂 If your in Chiang Rai, it's worth the visit.
It was 400THB (£8, $10) per person, and takes about 30-45min to get from one end of the river to the other. There is a truck at the end that brings you back to the main area near the dam.

I'm using a Telesin Neck Mount (https://amzn.to/4b9k5vQ) as I'm not a fan of the chest mounts, and this seems to work really well. Wanted to keep my hands free with all the water coming my way 😅
I've speed up the footage in some parts, as not much happens...

Suffering from tonsillitis and a chest infection, walking around while is the best way to experience Songkran, it just wasn't to be for me. Nothing to exciting, but it was good fun all the same 🙂

On 7 September 1958 the first Black Knight was launched at Woomera in Australia.
Between 1958 and 1965 a total of 22 launch vehicles were fired. After 22 launches the Black Knight programme came to a close.

Black Arrow was a British satellite expendable launch system. Black Arrow originated from studies based on the earlier Black Knight rocket.
A total of four launches of Black Arrow were performed between 1969 and 1971.
Black Arrow's final flight placed the Prospero satellite into low Earth orbit. Making it the first and only successful orbital launch to be conducted by the United Kingdom.

The Prospero satellite, also known as the X-3 was launched by the United Kingdom in 1971. It was designed to undertake a series of experiments to study the effects of the space environment on communications satellites and remained operational until 1973.

In 1764, the towering needle-shaped rock, aptly named 'Lot’s Wife', standing at approximately 120 feet tall, met a dramatic fate as it plunged into the depths of the sea with a thunderous crash. Legend has it that the reverberations of this monumental collapse echoed across vast distances, resonating for miles around.

Yarmouth Pier is a Victorian pleasure pier located in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight.
It is the longest wooden pier in England and frequently requires restoration due to the relatively short lifespan of the wooden piles.

After 140 years of operation it continues to thrive as a tourist attraction. At the end of the Pier is the Roundhouse Museum.

The Roundhouse Museum has a discovery centre where you will be able to find out about the Piers past, recent restoration projects and the sealife beneath the Pier.

Ryde Pier

Ryde Pier is an early 19th century pier serving the town of Ryde, on the Isle of Wight and it's the world's oldest seaside pleasure pier.

The pier was designed by John Kent of Southampton and its foundation stone laid on 29 June 1813.
The pier opened on 26 July 1814, the structure was originally wholly timber and measured 576 yards (527m). By 1833 extensions took the overall length to 745 yards (681m).

A second tramway pier was built next to the first, opening on 29 August 1864.
Horse-drawn trams took passengers from the pier head to the promenade.

From 1886 to 1927 the trams were powered by electricity from a third rail and from then until 1969 were petrol-powered.

On 12 July 1880 a third pier was opened alongside the first two providing a direct steam railway link to the pier-head.

In 1895 a concert pavilion was constructed at the pier-head. The Concert Pavilion was at the centre of the narrative in Philip Norman's book Babycham Night.
The author's family ran this venue when it was known as the Seagull Ballroom in the 1950s.

Ryde Pier was made a Grade II listed building in 1976.
From August 2010 to March 2011 Ryde Pier was closed to vehicles to allow structural repairs underneath the promenade pier.
