The Conquest Of Siberia is a recent Russian historical movie about imperial Russia’s expansion east into Siberia. The film’s plot centers around Ivan Demarin, a young lieutenant serving in the Russian army under Peter the Great. Under orders from the tsar, Demarin sets out on a campaign in search of gold in Siberia. Soon enough he reaches a frontier town, Tobolsk, deep in the Siberian forest. Here he finds love for the first time, confronts the hostile hordes of the local Dzungars, and finds himself in the center of a conspiracy of local princes.
