Just a sampling of what I've been listing to lately. No particular reason or rhyme to the order. I guess the working theory is to listen to music and pull a track off every album I listen to that peeks my interest for whatever reason. Really, I'm just going through my music catalog and if I wouldn't share a song off an album here, out the door it goes. I personally hope that whoever listens to this will just listen and not cheat and look at the track list. Or skip over things out-of-hand. You can always thumbs down it later. This is a journey into sound thru it's many genres, (although not as wide a variety as may appear in future volumes) on any format I own physically (Record, Tape, CD). This is my brain digitized one track at a time. Hope you can struggle thru till the end.

Afterthought------- I started this series out of discouragement. I got tired of YouTube blocking songs and just completely killing any sense of flow that I was going for. Best example is Ep. 20 with AC/DC and all the AC/DC songs got blocked a month or so after upload. In all fairness it's not YouTubes fault. But when you can get the same song on YouTube posted by 7 different channels and mine gets blocked it just gets old. Another reason to start this series is to get to some of my music that's hard to get on a mix if you are starting off with a rock mentality. This series just seems to have freed up a lot of constraints I seem to impose on myself. At times the change over from song to song might be way off. All Apologizes. I've just grown tired of putting so much into a mix to have it get neutered in the end. I will go back to The 33rd Revolution series from time to time. But for now this is the direction I am going. Buckle-up some of this shit will get weird.

This mix is intended to be listened to without knowing the upcoming track, so try not to peek or skip ahead. The working theme to this series is to highlight an artist with three songs. Then riff off and mix in whatever song I feel flows with the previous song. And hopefully ending with the artist I started with and make a nice cyclic mix. Sometimes I fail, and end up in a strange place. But that can lead to some interesting musical discoveries. All songs from record. Youtube has a way of derailing my flow with a copyright block. That's why I started a Mixcloud account. The complete mix can be found there. If you want to hear the real direction of this mix please give it a listen. If you just need a musical fix and like a vinyl feel, this will scratch the itch. Enjoy.

Afterthoughts---Time is just a great album. A lot of people bring up Out of The Blue when talking about ELO. But for me it's Time all the way. So it is very highlighted this go round. I try to not put more then 1 song from an album on my mixes but the album is just that good it needed more space. I'm going to keep this short this Time (hee hee). I rather enjoy this mix, I think it is a nice upbeat little jaunt thru some music I don't listen to much anymore. I've been in a big blues rock phase for a few years now and haven't been listening to much else. Anyways thanks for listening, I hope this picks your day up and makes the journey much more palatable.

Afterthoughts----Not much rolling around in my head today. In all fairness 2000 Blues is from a tape but all the rest of the songs are from record. I like to say record more then vinyl. I generally only use the term vinyl when talking to people about records because its a word people identify with more. Or when talking about new music. I don't know when the word vinyl started being used but to me it is a newer term and I like to say records or albums when talking about 60's and 70's music. I just don't think of people from the 60's sitting around saying things like "Hey have you heard the new Hendrix on vinyl", right, they wouldn't, because it was the only format until 8 tracks. Well I guess there was reel to reel in there somewhere, but still I just prefer to speak of music in terms that fits the time period. To me it's anything from the 90's on I use the word vinyl or album. 90's and under I use record or album. But album gets a little confusing on it's own because a CD or tape can be an album. Sweet Jesus this entire conversation was completely useless. I'm just that bored.

Afterthoughts--- It's been so long since I redid this mix I really don't remember what I did differently If I did do anything different. It's been 2 months since I uploaded this and I have 4 mixes that I could release if I finish the typing part. That's the worst. Listening to Miles Davis's Live Evil as I'm sitting here trying to slog through this. Trying to decide if I like It more or less then Bitches Brew. At the moment Brew is wining but I'll probably listen to them repeatedly until I feel like moving on to something new. I recently did that with Love's self titled and Forever Changes. I'm going to give it to the self titled on grounds that I heard it first and I like more songs on it then Forever. It's really all about side ! of the self titled being so frickin solid. I've had it for about 3 years and it's the first real Love album I ever found. Shit, I just gotta say that side 2 of Live Evil is coming on strong. Back to Love. I did have Love Revisited for a few years before the self titled. But I don't believe that Greatest Hits or Bests Of count like full real albums. So I grew very fond of the first album. Because It's the only full length album I had by the group. And I'm backwards enough that I prefer to wait till I find an album to listen to it. So I never heard Forever Changes until 2 months ago when I bought it at a trade show. Same goes for Bitches Brew and Live-Evil. I never heard it until a week ago. I wouldn't say it changed my life or anything but I liked it. I need to sit down and really try to absorb it. That's why I haven't really been posting much, I've been trying to just listen to my records. Well, anyways I think that's it for now. Oh, yeah, and the first song is indeed used in a Beastie Boys song if you were wondering. Sadly I can't remember which one anymore cuz I haven't listened to my CD's in a long time but I think it's on Ill Communication. Once again thanks for listening and thanks for reading this.

P.S. I just remembered It's called Flute Loop and it could be on Check Your Head, to lazy to look it up.

This is a new direction for me. Not fully comfortable with the talking parts yet. Hoping to become more relaxed as time goes by. I guess this program is suppose to be more like a radio show. Playing music from records as much as the condition and my musical tastes will allow. Mostly into 60's and 70's Rock, but I really listen to most any genre from 1940's to present. Please join me on PodBean or Goggle Podcasts for the rest of the show. And now for something completely different.

Afterthoughts----Seems YouTube has allowed me to type something here this time. They did block the Fleetwood Mac song but in all honesty I didn't think that it really fit all that well anyways. As Peter Green once said "Oh Well".
You may have noticed a small notice on the front end of the vid. That's just to reassure people that all is well on my end. Sometimes I have a dark streak in my mixes. It scares my friends and then they worry about me. This is just the direction that the music evolved into. I had the starter song picked out and somewhere along the way I thought of an end and tried to get there the best I could. These songs once held more meaning to me then they do now. I'm not in that place anymore but I do realize that others may. Not much I can do about this other than make a mix that might make someone think that they are not really alone even if we aren't suppose to be around a lot of people.
In all honesty social distancing doesn't bother me or even affect me besides not standing so close to people when I talk to them. Not much has changed for me. I isolated myself a long time ago. And came out the other end more or less ok. So it can be done. And I do understand the strain it may place on some people. Anyways, I hope this mix does something positive. If only it's back ground music while you do the laundry.

Afterthoughts----I really like this mix. It's rather out there at times, but I do like all the songs on this mix. Sometimes I throw things in to mess with people. Not this time. Well... maybe Cold Turkey. I do like the studio version a little better. The screams are more structured. But I just got this record when I first made this mix so I felt the need to share this live version. I hadn't heard this album until I bought the record. In fact that's how I buy most of my music. Just blind buys and trying to expand the cataloge of artists I like. Seldom do I look up records before I buy them. I've either heard the album before by having the tape or CD. Or I know a song off it and want to see if it's a good album or just has a few good songs. Unfortunately, records are becoming to expensive to just wing it anymore. That has started to take the fun out of record shows for me. Not a lot of "Well this looks interesting, 5 bucks (or less if you can even find that anymore without It looking like it has been used to scrape the mud off someone's shoe) I'll try this out, see what it sounds like". Oh well, change with the times or get left behind. But if you wait long enough, the times go full circle and catch back up to you. Then you can poo poo all the hipster trash that do what you have been doing for a decade. Not that i'm out to get Hipsters. They have made vinyl a solid market again. It's just wrecked havok on the price of records. I've seen someone trying to sell Stevie Wonder's Songs In The Key Of Life (not really a favorite of mine, I do have it but never play it, going to spin it right now cause it's on my mind) for 20 bucks at a yard sale and it didn't even have the 45 that comes with it. Mine does hee hee! It was in good shape but still it's a yard sale people. Movin' on. The deleted tracks are worth the trip over to mixcloud. I bought The Beatles Anthology 3 for the extended version of Helter Skelter. But What's The New Mary Jane and especially the version of Rocky Racoon really hooked me. I really like how Frankie Goes To Hollywood fits in after New Mary Jane. King Crimson always gets blocked but I'll keep putting it on these mixes regardless. Because I can. That's reason enough.
O.K. Songs In The Key Of Life is better then I remember, but I wouldn't call it a 20 dollar record. I've bought King Crimson records for less then that. Innervisions or Talking Book are more my style.

Afterthoughts---The only thing that has changed from the original mix is I moved Werewoles of London from first to last. First uploaded this about a year ago. Back then I was trying to get these mixes more exposure by starting them off with a song that people may search for. Just a smidge bit of clickbait that I failed at very well. I stopped that. It didn't work, mostly because I don't know how to title the mix properly. Like all caps or calling it a 1 hour 60's Blues Rock Compilation or some such shit. People hear this or they don't and I spend enough time and energy on these. Making up new ways to get discovered isn't how I wish to have fun. In fact I don't even like typing anything into the description box (Although you wouldn't know it from all this blathering, listening to King Gizzard's Quarters album seems to inspire me) and that is what takes the longest to get these uploaded. Sometimes a mix will sit on private for weeks before I feel like typing out all the info. So, I have dropped a lot of the first tracks that people know. Also for Mixcloud you can't have more then 3 tracks in a row, or more then 4 tracks in total by the same artist. I was doing 4 in a row at the beginning and once I started uploading to Mixcloud I changed to 3 at the beginning and 1 at the end. I have tried to make a more cyclic mix like this before but mostly by just making the first and last song fit so it can be played repeatedly. Now I try to just start and end with the same artist. By moving Werewolves to the end it made everything work in the new style. uggh… done for now I guess. All tracks from vinyl.

Enjoy.

Afterthoughts-----It's a bit of a strech at the end with the change over from Silver Moon to She Has Funny Cars. I added that for this re-upload. I ran out of room on the CD I mix this to originally, but decided to just add this track to make it in keeping with the style of this series. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. I really wanted to put Lather from Crown Of Creation but didn't want to have that many songs from the same album. Turns out I like Crown Of Creation more then Surrealistic Pillow. But it's a close one.

Afterthoughts----Reworked this mix and it may not be better then the original except the sound might be better and the volume is louder. Swapped the live version of Glad for the studio version from the John Barleycorn Must Die album. Since the live version is much longer I dropped Quicksilver Messenger Service's Gold And Silver. It was in between Lynyrd Skynyrd and Greg Allman that's why it doesn't flow as well right there. To me anyways, I just got tired of making things into 2 parts for one song. This mix was inspired by the passing of Greg Allman. That's why the last track isn't an Allman Brothers Band song. Although this breaks the theory of the series, I hope you can forgive the departure. Well, that's the technical backstory for this edition. Enjoy.

Afterthoughts---- I returned this mix to it's original line-up even though it has been massively cut-up. It has lost almost all sense of flow. I guess that is what Mixcloud is for. Hopefully the volume of the Mixcloud uploads has improved. Working on re-uploading all the mixes for YouTube and Mixcloud for better sound.

I personally hope that whoever listens to this will just listen and not cheat and look at the track list. Or skip over things out-of-hand. You can always thumbs down it later. All tracks taken from record.

Afterthought-----Well, I think once I mentioned how I didn't want to title a mix with 1 Hour whatever. And how I have trouble sticking to one genre. But here we are. Almost 2020 and YouTube blocks my vids for having the track list in the description (it will be in the comments section) and I'm lucky if I can type more then 5 things into the tag section, if anything. So this is about all I have left is the title (and they have blocked that as well sometimes for no reason). But I did throw some flare into it with the double title. It is a lame take on a show I used to watch as a kid. The tickertape is an attempt to stay on the good side once the COPPA thing kicks in this next year.
I don't like to stick to the same genre because I find it boring. I actually stopped this mix half way through because I just lost interest. Felt like going off into jazz or more blues rock but tried to stay in a more mellow straight forward blues vein. Just had to keep dropping things I felt should go next for something that was more in keeping with the overall theme. Kinda failed at the end anyways, so I guess it was pointless after all. If that ain't a glorious reason to get the blues I don't know what is. It's a very self-fulfilling prophecy. Luckily it is the holiday season and that will inspire anyone to be depressed. This is Christmas music for those that don't feel jolly. It's for the people who hate this time of year and most any family oriented holiday season. If this isn't you and you enjoy this mix... that's ok too. We will convert you eventually.

Afterthoughts---- I'm coming pretty late to this party. The week after Ginger Bakers death I thought about making this for a brief moment. Then I realizes that I just didn't feel like doing a mix at all. Another week passed and I was listening to Herbie Hancock's Headhunters album and thought that it would work on a Ginger Baker mix. Some other album gave me that idea too, can't remember it atm. Neither made it on this mix, lol. But they did inspire me to sit down and make this. "And proud of them we all are".
Back to the music. So Herbie Hancock didn't make the cut, mostly because this mix didn't go in the jazz/funk direction that I thought it would when it started. I blame Pink Floyd for that. I think it was the Great Gig In The Sky part that I wanted after Ariwo. But I felt that I couldn't break the set and just have that on it's own. I didn't necessarily want to make this about drumming, but there is some good drumming on here. Would of been nice to squeeze some Tool into this but I didn't. I didn't really even try, it was just a passing thought that never happened. I have lots of those. Makes me want the new Tool album when it comes to vinyl. It better anyways, I want to hear it and am just waiting to get it on vinyl to listen to the entire album. I've only heard parts of 2 songs. I'm just weird and want to listen to it in a certain setting. I feel it adds to the experience.
Could go on for awhile longer but I won't. This is a long mix. There are a lot of whole siders on this one. Feels good to play really long songs. Kind of what I would play if I had my own radio station. But my tastes can be very off putting. Hope you enjoy this, repeatedly maybe even, before a song gets blocked and I don't fix it for months. It will happen.

Just another music channel. Making mixtapes from vinyl. Well mostly. Sometimes I throw in something from tape or C.D. Basically sharing music that I have physically, in a way that I think flows nicely.
