In this hyper-sexualized society, we're often questioned and even pressured: "Why don't you have casual sex with people? That's no big deal! Literally everyone does it. What's the big deal with sex between men? Especially if it's in the context of a monogamous loving relationship?" And as much as we might see the appeal of these sentiments, our only real answer is the same one that the ancient Israelites had to give about food: "Because God said so." Whether or not an ancient Israelite agreed with the boundaries that Yahweh put around their diet didn't really matter. And in the same way, whether or not we agree with the sexual boundaries that God has given us doesn't really matter. As Francis Chan says, "Whenever I read the Bible and come across something that I disagree with, I have to assume that I'm wrong." And in our modern culture, sexuality is an area where obedience to God can become very uncomfortable. It carries a high price tag for some people.
