From The Rocks is a track from Red Mission Void, the second release from Blueroom and first full length LP recorded in 2005.

The album tells the story of a trip we took to Scotland, driving up from Shropshire in the middle of the night, then finding somewhere to camp. The plan was to climb Ben Nevis. We found a spot near the West Highland way just outside Fort William made a bed out of trees to put our tent on.

We camped beside a river where we washed, drank, swam and cooked. We explored the vast bogs and moorland beside us. And on day three we climbed Ben Nevis, most of us with no supplies, food, equipment or water.

"From The Rocks is the climb up Ben Nevis from Gregory's perspective. He and Goulbourne were left at the back as we went up. It was a hard journey, even resorting to eating snow at one point as they had no water. Other walkers asked to check if they were ok. The vocal performance here is by the one and only Adam Gregory"

The band are very fond of this track, so it deserved a video.

The pacing bear is a track from Red Mission Void, the second release from Blueroom and first full length LP recorded in 2005.

"The Pacing Bear is the story of my perspective of the journey up Ben Nevis. It was snowy at the top of Nevis and a complete whiteout, I ended up on my own. It was truly disconcerting, being completely alone and surrounded by nothing but freezing cold whitness. I kept going up the hill. As I continued, I eventually saw something black in the distance so I thought I should head towards it. As I continued the black thing grew and grew, it was very confusing. Eventually the black thing filled my entire field of vision until it was all I could see, and I had absolutely no idea what I was looking at. I then realised, I could make out little bits of snow in the blackness - I was looking at the other side of a cliff, having nearly just walked off it. I don't know how far I was from the edge, I could have been 2 metres, or 20, or 100. Either way, I didn't fall down and become a statistic. The top of the hill was then not far and I found the others there."

The band are very fond of this track, so it deserved a video.

Blueroom were a band formed in Shropshire in the early 2000s. We made two albums - the Noise EP (2004) and Red Mission Void (2005).

Whilst going through some old stuff I found this cassette tape of a gig that we did in May of 2004 at The Ex-Servicemen's club in Oswestry, Shropshire. It was our first public gig having played only at a gathering -"Gavstock" a couple of months previous. We were invited by Luke Turner of Inzaghi who's uncle Bill owned the club.

I've digitised the cassette tape and here is the result. A classic Oswestry gig from a time when the scene was really good and there were plenty of young bands around - we didn't have smart phones so we entertained ourselves by being in a band.

This is a live version of Dosed which is Track 1 off the Noise EP. This is a bit faster and punkier than the recorded version. This was one of Gregory's.

Habits and Addicts was one of the songs we wrote in the earlier Noise EP period but it didn't find its way onto the EP. When I came across this recording it actually took a few weeks to remember the name of the song and none of the other guys could remember it. This was one of Gregory's songs, which tended to be more depressive and angsty.

This is a live version of Carpets which was another one from the early pre-Noise EP period which didn't find its way onto the album. I wrrote this one in the music room in school on a classical nylon string guitar. Carpets aren't mentioned in the song but there is a terrible set of lyrics for an unused middle section which mentions something about Magic Carpets. I wish I could achieve this bass sound now, its almost frightening.

Inzaghi were a funky grungy band, here they play covers of The Pixies - Where is My Mind and Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix, there is also an acoustic performance from Luke Turner of Inzaghi at the end of the cassette playing and singing The Spider and The Fly by the Rolling stones, after the gig.

Sweet Leaf were a punk band fronted by Ben Mullhall, I don't know if the songs here are covers or originals. I remember they did one called "If I were you I'd Kill myself" but it isn't on this cassette

One of our friends believes he might have footage of this gig or another similar gig, fingers crossed.

This year is the 20th Anniversary of the Noise EP, so to celebrate the fact that Blueroom went nowhere, but certainly probably should have, we've put together a couple of music videos for songs from the Noise EP. Perhaps Blueroom can find a new audience, or in the very least our friends can enjoy the memories with us.

Sketches by Alan Goulbourne c. 2004

As well as retrieved footage of us and friends from the year before we made the first album, the space shuttle stuff is just some stuff we filmed when we went to the Moon. This video is a mish mash. There is art by Goulbourne which he said I should throw away, but instead I scanned it. The song was about conspiracy theories and hippy dippy new age spiritual awakening, so the space stuff seems to work.

The Noise is the 5th and final track off The Noise EP

The song was written by Alan Chaplin, it originally had words and a story about a noise that people started hearing, first very quietly. The noise gradually grew, all over the world, until it became deafening and drove everybody crazy. You can hear this in the song.

We used to sit and watch TV static and could swear we could see all sorts of things in it.

New single from curiously versatile pop group PINK PLASTIC MICROPHONE

LYRICS
I met you at my friend's brithday party
On Saturday night at the bowling alley
You wore a side ponytail
With a pink scrunchee and blue eye shadow
I asked to have the barriers down
I thought it was cute

You smiled at me as we parted ways
I said goodbye maybe see you again
I knew I'd see you again

Next I saw you at the roller disco
Your shirt sleeves rolled up
And a birds nest on your head

You skated with the grace of a dove
I realized then that I was in love
You held my hand as purple rain came on
Prince always gets me, OW!

Your eyes reflected the disco ball
I said I Love You
It made me get week
I knew it made you get weak

I met you...
In the park
In the Blind garden
In the pub
At the 80s party
In Dover
In Cornwall
In Spain
At my friend's birthday party
At the roller disco

The Casio PT-82 only plays one note at a time, so I had to record 4 of them to play this simple keyboard piece. Keyboard is lowered by an octave and reverb added.
