In this long-lost episode Roger is offered Soviet weapons grade plutonium and SS-20 mobile 1 megaton nuclear missile systems with a range of 3000 miles! - For some months in the early 1990s, there had been occasional newspaper reports, mainly tucked away in the foreign pages, of nuclear material being smuggled out of the former Soviet Union for sale illegally to anyone with the money. But no journalist had yet sought to demonstrate how easily such material might be acquired. Could The Cook Report do so? By 1993, The World Trade Center in New York had been attacked – for the first time – by what later turned out to be al-Qaeda extremists. Was it only a matter of time before some fanatical organisation upped the ante and got hold of enough plutonium to make a small bomb to be detonated in another Western city?
The Cook Report created an elaborate cover story and through an undercover contact in Moscow, the programme was eventually introduced to two prominent Russian members of the Solntsevskaya Bratva – the Russian Mafia – who could supply weapons-grade Plutonium. The plan was that Roger Cook would pose as the representative of a reactionary Middle Eastern regime eager to join the nuclear club and keen to buy enough plutonium 239 to make several small nuclear bombs.
Back in Britain, the programme hired an eminent consultant nuclear engineer who built us a highly accurate replica nuclear device in a briefcase from information freely available on the internet. There were several options, but the programme opted to replicate a relatively simple bomb that would operate in one of two modes – in that even if it failed to produce a nuclear explosion, it would still act as a very effective Radiological Dispersal Device – an RDD. These evil devices later became known as ‘dirty bombs’, so called because triggering them would disperse countless millions of highly radioactive particles over the target area and could render that area uninhabitable for centuries.
In a seedy back-street maisonette in Moscow, Cook’s Mafiosi targets negotiated to sell him 25 kilogrammes of Plutonium 239 for $200 million and offered a sample from a stash kept under the stairs next to their vacuum cleaner. The situation was as bizarre as it was dangerous and the sample later tested out as the real thing. Also on offer was a ready-made bomb in the form of an SS-20 nuclear warhead. Naturally, that was as far as the programme took the transaction, but the vendors were reported to the Russian security services, the FSB, later that day. They were promptly arrested and the illegal nuclear material was recovered. So, it was relatively easy to build a dirty bomb – and as the Cook Report would prove, relatively easy to acquire the nuclear material needed to do so. And if mere journalists could do this, surely a terrorist could too.

The British War Office through the RIIA, commissioned Lords Northcliffe and Rothmere (the Daily Mail) and Arnold Toynbee, head of RIIA, and an MI6 operative, to do a study on manipulating war information. A newly released report by Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor titled “Two Months after the International Court of Justice’s Ruling on Gaza: Escalation in Genocide and Absence of Accountability” contains documentation of Israel’s ongoing acts of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Strip. The report examines Israel’s lack of response to the Court’s ruling, which ordered Israel to take six provisional measures.
The ICJ issued a decision on 26 January 2024 ordering Israel to take specific provisional measures to prevent the crime of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. Stating that it was convinced that Israel’s actions in the Strip posed a real and immediate threat to the Palestinian people, the ICJ cited the possibility of irreversible effects and harm to Palestinian rights protected under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
Based on efforts to monitor and document the crimes and violations that Israel has committed in the Gaza Strip, as well as on investigations into and assessments of its level of compliance during the two-month period following the ruling, Euro-Med Monitor believes that Israel has not complied with the ICJ ruling. The majority of the provisional measures outlined in the ruling were violated, and the crime of genocide was carried out on the same scale. Various forms and acts of genocide were committed with the intent of destroying the Palestinian people.
Two months after the ICJ’s ruling, Israel proceeds to carry out its crime of genocide at the same scale, including killing civilians, targeting civilians through systematic and widespread military attacks, and using illegal, indiscriminate, and highly destructive weapons.
Targeting civilian gatherings around humanitarian aid trucks with direct gunshots, quadcopters, and Israeli tank shells is one of the most well-documented examples of the unlawful killings and executions carried out by the Israeli army against Palestinian civilians over the past few weeks. These incidents, which have become known as the “Flour Massacres”, resulted in the deaths of 563 citizens and the injury of 1,523 others. This figure includes civilians awaiting aid and workers in charge of planning, securing, and distributing aid.
The report also addressed the crimes that Israel continued to commit with the aim of inflicting severe physical and psychological harm on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, particularly through deprivation of healthcare, torture, inhumane treatment, sexual violence, and the use of prohibited, indiscriminate, and highly destructive weapons.
Furthermore, the report outlined the ongoing crimes committed by Israel aimed at deliberately causing material destruction to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, including forced displacement, starvation, rendering the area uninhabitable, and eradicating the Palestinian identity of the region.

ITV News presenter Rageh Omaar appeared to become unwell while he was presenting Friday night's show and viewers aren't happy
ITV has sparked fury over "disturbing" Rageh Omaar scenes as the presenter allowed to continue the show.
This comes after Ragah fronted Friday evening's news programme but appeared to become unwell throughout. Many have pointed out that he should have been taken on air and been given medical attention.
The presenter seemed to be stumbling over his words as he read from the autocue. Viewers immediately became concerned and thought he was unwell. The 56-year-old carried on until the end of the show where he signed off. ITV pulled the programme from its +1 channel as a spokesperson confirmed that Rageh had become unwell while on air.
Viewers immediately took to social media to say that Rageh should have been taken off air and shouldn't have bee allowed to carry on presenting the programme. "Rageh Omaar was clearly struggling on Thursday night (24 hours before) - big questions about duty of care here," one person said.
While another asked: "Concerning scenes on ITV News last night & wishing Rageh Omaar a speedy recovery. Why did ITV not immediately stop the broadcast and provide help?" With a third adding: "Rageh Omaar genuinely appeared to be having a stroke reading ITV News at Ten tonight. Really struggling to string a sentence together and get his words out. Amazed he made it to the end of the bulletin. Hope he's OK."

Pro-Palestinian protests spread to more college campuses in the United States on Thursday as authorities appeared to be running out of patience and police began to push back forcefully.
Riot officers used chemical irritants and tasers at one university as administrators at some of the country's most prestigious institutions battled to prevent occupations taking hold.
New sit-ins and boisterous demonstrations sprang up at campuses across the United States, with activists calling for a ceasefire in Israel's war with Hamas, as well as for colleges to sever ties with the country and with companies they say profit from the conflict.
"For 201 days, the world has watched in silence as Israel has murdered over 30,000 Palestinians," said a message posted online by organizers of a new protest at the University of California, Los Angeles.
"Today, UCLA joins students across the country in demanding that our universities divest from the companies which profit off of the occupation, apartheid and genocide in Palestine."
More than 200 protesters were arrested Wednesday and early Thursday at universities in Los Angeles, Boston and Austin, Texas, where around 2,000 people gathered again on Thursday.
At Emory College in Atlanta, photographs showed police wielding tasers as they wrestled with protesters on neatly manicured lawns.
Officers wearing gas masks used zip-ties to detain people, the college's Emory Wheel news website reported.
The Atlanta Police Department (APD) said the college had asked for help in "securing the campus".
"Law enforcement officers were met with violence," said a statement from the public affairs unit.
"We are aware APD officers used chemical irritants during the incident. However, APD did not deploy rubber bullets."
The spreading protests began at Columbia University in New York, where a midnight deadline was approaching for students to remove an encampment that has become the epicenter of the movement.
The protests pose a major challenge to university administrators who are trying to balance campus commitments to free expression with complaints that the rallies have crossed a line.
Pro-Israel supporters and others worried about campus safety have pointed to anti-Semitic incidents and allege that campuses are encouraging intimidation and hate speech.
"I've never felt more scared to be a Jew in America right now," said Skyler Sieradsky, a 21-year-old student of philosophy and political science at George Washington University.
"And not only in America, on campus, when I know that there are students and faculty standing by messages of hate, and standing by messages that call for violence."
Student protesters say they are expressing solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, where the death toll has topped 34,305, according to the Hamas-run territory's health ministry.
Demonstrators, including a number of Jewish students, have disavowed instances of anti-Semitism and criticized officials equating it with opposition to Israel.
"People (are) here in support of Palestine people from all different backgrounds, people you know, compelled by their own ancestors, their general sense of justice, to be here," a demonstrator at the University of Texas, Austin, who said he was Jewish and gave his name as Josh, told AFP.
At the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where 93 people were arrested for trespassing on Wednesday, authorities said they were cancelling events at the May 10 graduation ceremony.
The ceremony, which usually attracts 65,000 people, made headlines this month when administrators cancelled a planned speech by a high-flying student after complaints from Jewish groups that she had links to anti-Semitic groups.
She denied the charge.
At Emerson College in Boston, local media reported classes were cancelled Thursday after police clashed with protesters overnight, tearing down a pro-Palestinian encampment and arresting 108 people.
In Washington, students from Georgetown and George Washington University (GW) established their own solidarity encampment on the GW campus Thursday, the Georgetown Voice student publication reported, with a walkout planned at Georgetown.
Protests and encampments have also sprung up at New York University and Yale -- both of which also saw dozens of students arrested earlier this week -- Harvard, Brown University, MIT, the University of Michigan and elsewhere.

Protesters demanded immediate early elections and held the government responsible for not returning hostages from Gaza.
Opposition leader Yair Lapid addressed the rally in Paris Square in Haifa. “This government is not the state. This government is a disaster for the country,” he said. “They will not convince me that there is no alternative, and that this terrible and extremist government is the best thing this country can offer its citizens.”
Former Chief of Staff Dan Halutz also spoke in Haifa.
"Netanyahu is not interested in the return of the hostages because it heralds the end of his rule.”
“They (the hostages) were abandoned six months ago, and Israel did not put an offer on the table to pay everything in return for their release,” he said. “The absolute victory promised by Netanyahu will not happen, and there has been no war in Gaza for over three months. When there is no road, you will never reach your destination.”
Police dispersed the marchers.
Israel has been witnessing almost daily protests demanding Netanyahu to hasten reaching an agreement with Palestinian factions in Gaza and to hold early elections.
Hamas accuses Netanyahu of "stubbornness" and a lack of desire to reach an agreement. The group has insisted on ending the onslaught in Gaza, withdrawal of the Israeli army, allowing the return of displaced residents and the entry of sufficient aid into the enclave.
Flouting the International Court of Justice’s provisional ruling, Israel continues its onslaught on the Gaza Strip where at least 34,049 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and 76,901 injured since Oct. 7, according to Palestinian health authorities.
The Israeli onslaught has pushed 85% of Gaza’s population into internal displacement amid acute shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, while 60% of the enclave's infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
How and why is Israel trying to downplay havoc wreaked by Iranian missiles
What does the available evidence suggest?
The Iranian military operation, which came two weeks after the consulate attack, was not shrouded in secrecy. It was announced days before by political and military officials, and the United States was reportedly also informed about the day of the attack through diplomatic channels, 72 hours earlier.
Besides, all leading Iranian media outlets, including Press TV, reported that Iran launched a barrage of drones at the occupied territories hours before they reached their intended target.
Iranian military sources at first did not announce the precise types and quantity of weapons launched, mostly stating that they were "dozens" of drones and missiles.
One local news agency published information about 500 drones launched during the attack, although not referring to domestic military sources but to a foreign news network.
This claim was pleasurable at the time and served the purpose of causing panic as it sent millions of Israeli settlers and regime officials into underground shelters and safe houses.
Later, the IRGC released three pieces of footage showing the launch of at least 20 ballistic missiles, 20 cruise missiles and a dozen drones.
Private footage recorded in Iraq showed only a single drone and a cruise missile, so there was no independent visual evidence of initially reported huge ballistic volleys or drone swarms.
Despite Israeli attempts at censorship, leaked footage from the occupied territories showed numerous powerful explosions of heavy warheads, apparently caused by Iranian quasi-ballistic or hypersonic missiles.
Only in the case of one air base in the Negev, either Nevatim or Ramon, at least four films from different angles showed that at least five Iranian missiles smashed the intended target within 11 seconds.
Satellite images of two large air bases established that the missiles were not fired randomly, but buildings and infrastructure were hit with pinpoint accuracy.
An informed source told Press TV that the occupied territories were targeted with hypersonic missiles and that none was intercepted, without specifying whether it was the newly unveiled Fattah missile.
Other Iranian media outlets reported that the weapon in question was actually the Kheibar Shekan, a maneuverable missile that has a hypersonic final stage.
Major General Mohammad Baqeri, the chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, said Iran hit a large Israeli intelligence base and Nevatim Airbase in the occupied lands, adding that the strikes "reached its goals" as the regime's air defense failed to engage it properly.
What makes claim of Israeli regime and media ludicrous?
Israel's claims of extremely successful interception of drones and missiles are debunked by verified numbers, contradictory official reports, attempts of censorship, falsification of evidence, various other manipulations, and the regime's furious reactions.
First of all, the claims of 300-350 enemy targets and 99 percent downing, including all drones and cruise missiles, imply that three ballistic missiles hit the intended targets, which is untrue as at least nine such successful hits have been verified.
The true extent of the damage cannot be determined because the Israeli regime has made enormous efforts to censor private footage and photos, openly threatening settlers not to post them online.
Although they initially claimed that not a single hostile drone or cruise missile had reached the occupied territories, later the regime's media in Hebrew acknowledged the damage caused by drones in the vicinity of the Hermon Base.
There were also serious reports from neighboring countries that the sites on the Golan Heights were severely hit, presumably by low-flying drones and cruise missiles, since there were no ballistic traces in the sky.
The very purpose of the drones was not to cause significant damage, but to arrive at the target in coordination with salvos of cruise and ballistic missiles and then, together with hostile interceptor jets and missiles, overload the enemy radars.
There is nothing to support the Israeli figures of "hundreds" of enemy targets, as there are no Iranian statements or independent confirmations, only Iranian footage of 50 different launches and Israeli footage of a handful being shot down.
Israeli long-range anti-ballistic systems such as Arrow and David's Sling operate at a range of tens or hundreds of kilometers and very high altitudes. In other words, above Jordan, Syria and Iraq.
If Israel's claims of 120 ballistic missiles and 99 percent interceptions were true, there should have been more than a hundred widely visible intercept explosion traces over the skies of those three countries, but not a single one was recorded....

Iran’s retaliatory attack on Israel will go down in history as one of the greatest victories of this century.
I’ve been writing about Iran for more than two decades. In 2005, I made a trip to Iran to ascertain the “ground truth” about that nation, a truth which I then incorporated into a book, Target Iran, laying out the US-Israeli collaboration to craft a justification for a military attack on Iran designed to bring down its theocratic government. I followed this book up with another, Dealbreaker, in 2018, which brought this US-Israeli effort up to date.
Back in November 2006, in an address to Columbia University’s School of International Relations, I underscored that the United States would never abandon my “good friend” Israel until, of course, we did. What could precipitate such an action, I asked? I noted that Israel was a nation drunk of hubris and power, and unless the United States could find a way to remove the keys from the ignition of the bus Israel was navigating toward the abyss, we would not join Israel in its lemming-like suicidal journey.
The next year, in 2007, during an address to the American Jewish Committee, I pointed out that my criticism of Israel (which many in the audience took strong umbrage against) came from a place of concern for Israel’s future. I underscored the reality that I had spent the better part of a decade trying to protect Israel from Iraqi missiles, both during my service in Desert Storm, where I played a role in the counter-SCUD missile campaign, and as a United Nations weapons inspector, where I worked with Israeli intelligence to make sure Iraq’s SCUD missiles were eliminated.

“The last thing I want to see,” I told the crowd, “is a scenario where Iranian missiles were impacting on the soil of Israel. But unless Israel changes course, this is the inevitable outcome of a policy driven more by arrogance than common sense.”
On the night of 13-14 April 2024, my concerns were played out live before an international audience—Iranian missiles rained down on Israel, and there was nothing Israel could do to stop them. As had been the case a little more than 33 years prior, when Iraqi SCUD missiles overcame US and Israeli Patriot missile defenses to strike Israel dozens of times over the course of a month and a half, Iranian missiles, integrated into a plan of attack which was designed to overwhelm Israeli missile defense systems, struck designated targets inside Israel with impunity.
Despite having employed an extensive integrated anti-missile defense system comprised of the so-called “Iron Dome” system, US-made Patriot missile batteries, and the Arrow and David’s Sling missile interceptors, along with US, British, and Israeli aircraft, and US and French shipborne anti-missile defenses, well over a dozen Iranian missiles struck heavily-protected Israeli airfields and air defense installations.
The Iranian missile attack on Israel did not come out of the blue, so to speak, but rather was retaliation for an April 1 Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate building, in Damascus, Syria, that killed several senior Iranian military commanders. While Israel has carried out attacks against Iranian personnel inside Syria in the past, the April 1 strike differed by not only killing very senior Iranian personnel, but by striking what was legally speaking sovereign Iranian territory—the Iranian consulate.
From an Iranian perspective, the attack on the consulate was a redline which, if not retaliated against, would erase any notion of deterrence, opening the door for even more brazen Israeli military action, up to and including direct attacks on Iran. Weighing against retaliation, however, were a complex web of interwoven policy objectives which would probably be mooted by the kind of large-scale conflict between Israel and Iran that could be precipitated by any meaningful Iranian retaliatory strike on Israel.

Three former Supreme Court justices are among over 600 lawyers and academics who have signed a 17-page letter to warn the present situation in Gaza is "catastrophic".
The government has been facing growing calls to suspend arms exports to Israel after three British aid workers were killed in an airstrike.
John Chapman, Jim Henderson and James Kirby were among seven World Central Kitchen aid workers who died when a convoy they were travelling in was hit on Monday - in what the Israel Defence Forces has called a "grave mistake".
The letter warns that - given the International Court of Justice's opinion that there is a plausible risk of genocide - the UK government is legally obliged to act in preventing it.
The signatories said: "While we welcome the increasingly robust calls by your government for a cessation of fighting and the unobstructed entry to Gaza of humanitarian assistance, simultaneously to continue... the sale of weapons and weapons systems to Israel... falls significantly short of your government's obligations under international law."
Ministers are also urged to work towards a ceasefire and sanction "individuals and entities who have made statements inciting genocide against Palestinians".

Their letter calls for funding to be restored to the aid agency UNRWA, which was withdrawn amid allegations staff had participated in the 7 October attack orchestrated by Hamas.
And it said that "serious action" is needed to "avoid UK complicity in grave breaches of international law, including potential violations of the Genocide Convention".
The signatories include the Supreme Court's former president Lady Hale as well as former justices Lord Sumption and Lord Wilson.
There has been pressure within the Conservative Party to end exports - with MPs Flick Drummond, David Jones and Paul Bristow urging the government to reconsider.
Lord Hugo Swire, a former MP turned Tory Peer, also wants to see the exports stop in the current context. He served as a minister in the Foreign Office under David Cameron's premiership.
Labour's shadow foreign secretary David Lammy said the government should publish any legal advice it has regarding whether Israel had breached international law - and suspend arms sales if there was a risk weapons could be used in "a serious breach of international humanitarian law".

Plans to charge drivers to use roads in Cambridge will not go ahead, according to the leader of the city council.
The Labour group on the council voted to withdraw support for the proposals and said it was worried about the "impact on low income families".
Its move follows concerns raised by Liberal Democrats in Cambridgeshire.
Plans to charge motorists at least £5 to drive into or around the city in peak times were due to be discussed at a meeting on Thursday.
Under revised plans the charge would have raised around £26m a year and helped pay for an expansion of the bus network.
'Rug was pulled'
Councillor Mike Davey, Labour leader of Cambridge City Council, said there were parts of the proposals, known as Making Connections, his group supported but others it did not.
But, he added, the "rug was pulled" after the Liberal Democrats said they had "further concerns".
Asked how "dead" the plans were, Mr Davey said: "They are not going to go ahead.
"There were bits we liked and bits we remained concerned about.
"Sustainable travel has not gone away – something is going to have to happen.
"Something will have to go ahead because we have a problem with congestion in this city, which is only going to get worse."
'Fundamental conundrum'

He said his group planned to work closely with the directly-elected Labour Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to improve public transport, especially buses.
The Greater Cambridge Partnership's Joint Assembly, which offers advice to its executive board, was due to meet on Thursday to discuss the plans. The executive board was due to meet on 28 September.
"We need to work with our colleagues – both officers and politicians – to see if we can find an alternative," Mr Davey added.
He accepted that the issue of "how do you afford buses if [congestion] charging goes" will "come back again".
"We all want to go shopping and nobody wants to pay for the things that we have bought," he said.
"It's how do you address that fundamental conundrum, bearing in mind we face a climate emergency and growth in this city."

The Russian president earlier spoke to reporters and relayed that his government is by no means using energy as a weapon against Europe amid the growing crisis, underscoring that Russia solely stands ready to help the region ahead of the looming winter months.

Asked whether the US dollar is moving away from being the world's reserve currency, the Russian president commented that the US is actually "undermining its position" as Washington continues to use the dollar as an instrument of sanctions abroad.
"It is undermining its position as the world's reserve currency," Putin told Gamble. "The volume of settlements in dollars is shrinking, and the volume of personal reserves of the world's countries in dollars is also reducing."
"But we are not interested in completely stopping payments in dollars, and so far we are satisfied with, say, payments for energy resources in dollars, primarily for oil. But if the policy of the American authorities continues, as I have already mentioned, then we will not have to do anything, the United States will itself undermine confidence in the dollar," he noted.

And I remember at the time of Kosovo, I remember saying no let the peace negotiations go on several more weeks in order to try and get them sorted so that we didn't have to take on Milosevic. But when you say that Saddam is a monster that is irrelevance, I'm afraid, to how you deal with the situation because a monster is not somebody you want to allow to develop chemical, biological and nuclear weapons.
Jeremy Paxman: The question is what freedom he has under the current inspection regime but we've discussed that already, I want to explore a little further about your personal feelings about this war. Does the fact that George Bush and you are both Christians make it easier for you to view these conflicts in terms of good and evil?
Tony Blair: I don't think so, no, I think that whether you're a Christian or you're not a Christian you can try perceive what is good and and what is, is evil.

A powerful feeling rhythms your skin and drums up your soul as you're immersed in a long walk under persistent snow flurries, pinpointed by selected stops and enlightening conversations, crystallizing disparate vectors one year after the start of the accelerated phase of the proxy war between US/NATO and Russia.
That's how Moscow welcomes you: the undisputed capital of the 21st century multipolar world.
President Putin's address - rather, a civilizational speech - last week was a game-changer when it comes to the demarcation of the civilizational red lines we are all now facing. It acted like a powerful drill perforating the less than short, actually zero term memory of the Collective West. No wonder it exercised a somewhat sobering effect contrasting the non-stop Russophobia binge of the NATOstan space.
Alexey Dobrinin, Director of the Foreign Policy Planning Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Russia, has correctly described Putin's address as "a methodological basis for understanding, describing and constructing multipolarity."
For years some of us have been showing how the emerging multipolar world is defined - but goes way beyond - high speed interconnectivity, physical and geoeconomic. Now, as we reach the next stage, it's as if Putin and Xi Jinping, each in their own way, are conceptualizing the two key civilizational vectors of multipolarity. That's the deeper meaning of the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership, invisible to the naked eye.
Metaphorically, it also speaks volumes that Russia's pivot to the East, towards the rising sun, now irreversible, was the only logical path to follow as, to quote Dylan, darkness dawns at the break of noon across the West.
As it stands, with the wobblin', ragin' Hegemon lost in its own pre-fabricated daze, the real runners of the show feeding burning flesh to irredeemably mediocre political "elites", China may have a little more latitude than Russia, as the Middle Kingdom is not - yet - under the same existential pressure Russia has been put under.
Whatever happens next geopolitically, Russia is at heart a - giant - obstacle on the warmongering path of the Hegemon: the ultimate target is top "threat" China.
Putin's ability to size up our extremely delicate geopolitical moment - via a dose of highly concentrated, undiluted realism - is something to behold. And then Foreign Minister Lavrov provided the sweet cherry on top, calling the hapless US ambassador for a hardcore dress down: oh yeah, this is war, hybrid and otherwise, and your NATO mercenaries as well as your junk hardware are legitimate targets.
Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Security Council, now more than ever relishing his "unplugged" status, made it all very clear: "Russia risks being torn apart if it stops a special military operation (SMO) before victory is achieved."
And the message is even more acute because it represents the - public - cue to the Chinese leadership at the Zhongnahhai to understand: whatever happens next, this is the Kremlin's unmovable official position.
The Chinese restore the Mandate of Heaven
All these vectors are evolving as ramifications of the bombing of the Nord Streams, the only military attack - cum industrial terrorism - ever perpetrated against the EU, leave the Collective West paralyzed, dazed and confused.
Perfectly in tandem with Putin's address, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs chose the geopolitical/existential moment to finally take the gloves off, with a flourish: enter the US Hegemony and its Perils essay cum report, which became an instant massive hit across Chinese media, examined with relish all across East Asia.
This blistering enumeration of all the Hegemon's lethal follies, for decades, constitutes a point of no return for trademark Chinese diplomacy, so far characterized by passivity, ambivalence, actual restraint and extreme politeness. So such turnaround is yet another proud "achievement" of the outright Sinophobia and mendacious hostility exhibited by American neocons and neoliberal-cons.
