Aug 6, 2019 Gun Safety
If you shoot regularly, especially at an indoor range, lead poisoning is a real threat... both to you and your family. Primers contain lead styphnate, a hazardous substance which goes airborne every-time you fire a round.
Mickey goes deep into lead safety for firearms. He discusses the risks and counter-measures that should be taken to avoid lead poisoning on the shooting range.
Lead safety tips include:
- Don't wear home the shoes and clothing you wear on the range
- Clean your hands and face with D-Lead, then soap and water
- Don't drink, smoke or eat on the range
- Don't clean your guns in the kitchen or on the dinning room table
- Don't shoot on a poorly ventilated indoor range
- When sweeping on an indoor range, sweep dust toward the exhaust vents
- When your cleaning an indoor range, wearing a respirator is not a bad idea
