A great topic was brought up by one of the awesome subscribers here and I decided to address it. They asked about how to handle SHTF with neighbors who haven't done anything to prepare. I thought it was worth covering! Neighbors and neighborhoods are incredibly difficult to plan for when the SHTF finally happens. But, there are ways you can prepare for it and get ready for the final scenario.
In any kind of apocalyptic, grid down, post collapse society, the danger of being proximal to other people is ever present. Especially the dangers of neighbors during post collapse! That will be a time when people's will power is tested and morality will take a turn for the worst. Even those we currently know or trust could turn out to be your greatest enemy when it comes down to survival.
My suggestions for dealing with the dangers of neighbors during post collapse begin with the additional prepping of food items for the scenario of barter or pacification. If your neighbors come by for food and you let them leave empty handed, they might decide you are holding out on them and come back more aggressively. Use a small amount of basic food to pacify the situation at hand and then make plans on your next step for their inevitable return. Also, when dealing with the dangers of neighbors in shtf, apocalypse, grid down or post collapse, always take security at the highest priority. Never answer the door without both the idea of a possible trap as well as some form of security or defense available near by. Even the nice little old lady down the street could turn out to be bait for a band of marauders come the SHTF scenario we as preppers currently prepare for.
Can a prepper be a good neighbor to have? Yes of course. Are there dangers involved with being neighbors during post collapse? Yes of course. As preppers, do we plan on that for survival? A big yes.
