Google's Gemini AI Won't Show White People? Are There AI Ethics?
Google's Gemini AI happily shows images of black, Asian, and Native American people when asked, but allegedly refuses to provide pictures of white people, as if someone forgot to program political correctness! It just won't show white people? Is there such a thing as AI ethics?
It is obviously a mistake that wasn't supposed to go to a production version of the software, as I don't believe even in 2024 that Google would intentionally do this to its AI. It's not good for business for an AI to be racist.
In this video, I go over what my own personal opinions are about this debacle and wonder if Gemini is actually conforming to an executive order Joe Biden signed in October that regulates what AI can tell its consumers.
Is this a sign of cancel culture in tech? Will AI and race discrimination become a problem overall, or is it just another symptom of Silicon Valley wokeness?
