Galactic Civilizations IV: Supernova has finally had the upgrade I've been waiting for: a drastically improved combat system that gives the player a lot more agency when it comes to ship and fleet composition, and a better combat UI to see it all play out too.

In this series, I play a large map as the Baratak Grove. We're trying to find a solution to pollution while fending off some of the worst neighbours a plant based race could possibly have in GalCiv.

Shadow Empire is my favourite strategy game, a masterpiece 4X/Wargame hybrid from VR Designs, published by Matrix. In this new series, I ramp the difficulty up to Hard and play on what I expect to be a fairly difficult planet in the hopes of testing the AI out properly.

You can find the game at www.matrixgames.com.

Wargame Design Studio have taken on the old John Tiller wargames and updated them with a better user-interface, improved game-AI and constant polish to the rulesets.

I love this game engine, it's my favourite wargaming system. I've not played any of the Squad Battles series before, plus I don't own any WW2 games from WDS, so Eagles Strike felt like a good choice!

If you want to try one of these games before you pay any more, you can download a free demo of the Squad Battles series "Grenada" here: https://wargameds.com/collections/squad-battles/products/grenada

Here's me with a second playthrough of "A Ranger Challenge" armed with some better knowledge of how to play the game! The scenario is completed within this single episode.

It's time for another Dominions single player series. This time I'm playing as Ermor in the Early Age, with their Roman units, Christian-like priests and fortune telling mages they're really, really interesting, especially when you throw a rather dark fascination with Death magic into the equation.

Dominions 6 is the latest game in a venerable series of fantastic fantasy strategy games from Illwinter Games Design. Without a doubt one of the most complex and potentially intimidating video games ever made, it is also incredibly playable and fun, and in this single player series, I hope to show how the game can be played in a thematic way that plays to the lore of the game.

Kingdom, Dungeon and Hero is a new fantasy wargame from Alvaro Souza's Kraken Studios (Warplan, Warplan Pacific), and is set to release in July 2024.

This has instantly become one of my most anticipated games of 2024, with its blend of operational level wargame strategy and blobber-style CRPG autobattler combat as you explore dungeons. The Warplan games are excellent, deep wargames that are relatively simple to learn and play, with a mid level complexity of mechanics and endless replayability, and if this is anything as near good as those were, it's gonna be a big success I think.

The game has a manual already, and is apparently almost complete. That gives me great hope, since there's 6 months to polish before release!

The demo with a single short scenario has just released on Steam for you to check out now.

ADOM is a fantastic fantasy roguelike game by Thomas Biskup. Lineage wise, it's technically a Hack-like, I think, but it's so different to Nethack that it's barely recognisable and plays much more like a classic fantasy CRPG.

ADOM has complex mechanics and an old school design, and is quite unique amongst the so-called "major roguelikes" in that it bears the marks of the developer's personality.

I think it's excellent, and I hope you enjoy it too!

This is a rather loose video with me showing why I think Galactic Ruler Enlightenment has the potential to be an excellent and rather unique space 4X/Grand Strategy hybrid game.

I wanted to get this one out quickly and don't have time for a series or a proper scripted video but I hope I got my point across despite that.
