Here's another term from my moral framework - priorities. What is most important to you? What comes first?
Practice weighing important things, and coming to a conclusion about what takes precedence (and why). Ask yourself moral questions, seek out difficult issues and narrow down why you pick one side over another. This is how you get more comfortable making hard decisions.
And it's another layer of personalization for your moral compass. What aspects of morality are more important to you? Human complexity means most people will do things you consider moral and immoral - how do you weigh those things against each other? How do you determine if someone is a good person in your eyes?
This relates back to standards because knowing your standards can help you weigh priorities.

This is the first video about the specific terms from My Morality Framework.
Your personal standards determine what you will or won't accept, in regard to the quality of things in your life. This applies to daily living, self care, relationships, work, school, entertainment, etc.
A lot of self-improvement and life-improvement can be gained by understanding your personal/interpersonal standards, and recognizing when it would be beneficial to raise or lower them. I'm all about balance - so I think it's often best to have them in a moderate zone, with some flexibility between strong boundaries (bottom/minimum standards) and high aspirations (top/ideal standards).
Hope this helps!

Dune Part 1 was a treat. Dune Part 2 got me in the theatre - and it was absolutely worth it. Gorgeous mise-en-scene. Intriguing writing. So impressed.

This is not generic sci-fi. This is Dune.

And somehow I completely forgot to mention the fight choreography in this video... it was good. Like everything else I couldn't help but marvel at the combat scenes. I wanted more. Those actors did not just walk on set and wing it. I will be watching that combat in slow-mo.

Modern cinematic masterpieces, and I can't wait for more. I'm hoping modern audiences are inspired to raise their standards, because there is a lot of crap being made (it's always heartbreaking when an incredible book series gets a bad updated script that ruins the story).

These movies are so well-made, in pretty much every way, and I might actually end up doing full film reviews of them in the future.

Go watch them on as big of a screen as you can find.

This video's a little late - it's from the last week that Dune 2 was being shown in local theatres.

Comprehensive list of things that will get me in the cinema:
1. A good f#@%ing movie.

Dune Part 1 was very good... at least to me. Dune Part 2 is in theatres, and from the previews and early comments it also sounds very good. But I've been burned before, by Jurassic World, the Disney Remakes (especially Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Mulan), and many others. They scared me off the theatre, and I don't know what type of modern audience thinks those awful films cut it, but, people need higher standards for their entertainment.

I love action movies, superhero movies, dark crime films, sci-fi films, all that good stuff - all the things I keep seeing a lot of men say women don't show up to theatres for... I don't think it's correct, and I don't think theatres are dying, I think men and women aren't interested in badly written films made by a scummy and pandering film industry.

So help me Gawd, if this movie sucks... there's not really anything I'll be able to do about it. Yet somehow I still have hope. Gawd I hope Dune 2 is good...

Here's a video to kick off another series of videos, all about Fairytale stuff - these old stories are great sources of harsh truths, important lessons, and moral questions. Read them yourself (best option) or come back for my Fairytale Summaries in the future!

Here's an overview of my moral framework. It has really helped me out in life, writing, and relationships.
My structure is based on Standards, Priorities, Values & Principles. People have personal Values & Principles, which can already be nuanced and uniquely different from each other, and then the application of Standards & Priorities add another layer of nuance to the overall moral compass.

This allows for in-depth philosophical and/or pragmatic discussion of any person's morality - whether you think they're good or bad. You can use this framework to sort out, clarify, understand, and discuss a person's morality without passing judgement (or implying immorality).

I do think solid concepts of good and bad (as well as heroic and evil) are necessary in the discussion of morality, but those terms can be used so relatively and differently between cultures that they aren't always helpful. My moral framework keeps things objectively organized without delving into what is considered "good" or "bad" by individuals or groups.

Let me know what you think! Is this helpful? Do you want me to share more of my ideas like this?

Here's a bit of set-up for my Morality series of videos - I don't want to tell anyone what to think or how to feel, but I do want to help people figure out their own moral framework and how to communicate about the topic with others.

This is from back in January - a little late posting here!
So many more bad luck things happened, but these were the only ones I remembered while recording and that I was willing to share with everyone!

Eh+ Canadian Film Suggestions: Dragonheart (1996) - one of my ultimate childhood fantasy films that always pulls at my heartstrings. Worth a watch, with an eye to the way the simple story expands the world.

Sorry the volume seems so low, I was losing my voice in some parts!
Eh+: Canadian Film Suggestions: Coherence - This is such a well-made film, and my favourite example of film form adding to the premise. Well worth a watch if you like moody, intellectual films.

Eh+: Canadian Film Suggestions - Singin' in the Rain (1952) might be the best historically-based comedy I've seen. Well worth a watch, even if you have no idea what it's about (that might make it all the better).

I'm lucky enough to have good people to spend this Christmas and New Years with, but I know many people are going through the holidays alone. That doesn't have to be a bad thing, most people will spend important holidays alone at some point. You can turn it into something wonderful and meaningful.

I always forgot to drink water, even though I don't mind drinking it. So I made things easier for myself.

Eh+ Film Suggestions: Fallen (1998; starring Denzel Washington & John Goodman) is a dark, supernatural crime thriller.
It does an amazing job of making you feel connected to the characters, as if you're truly observing their lives. The people and relationships feel so richly written.

Eh+: Canadian Film Suggestion for Top Gun & Top Gun: Maverick. If only ALL sequels treated their aging main characters like this.

Eh+ Suggestions: The River Wild (1994) is a sincere, family-oriented, action-thriller.
It's one of those nostalgic films from my childhood, and as an adult I think it does wonderful things with communication, respectful relationships, and intelligent writing overall.
A great self-contained story with strong values that I consider very worth-watching.

I'm a nerdy artist with a film studies degree who focuses on life improvement - my opinions don't often line up with the other film critics. I'm gonna be releasing short spoiler-free videos about all the films I think are worth watching, for one reason or another. Any film that gets an Eh+ (because Canadian) from me means there's something about that film that I respect.

Hi I'm Ia and I'm a perfectionist - you'd think I'd be more impressive, but here we are...

We all need to start somewhere: meditation is such a beneficial activity, and I wish more people knew how simple it can be to start.
