3rd week of September 2021 - while cruising America's Great loop - anchored out for the night in Valley City, IL on the Illinois River. I saw this barge pass by. Had a very quiet and peaceful night's sleep there. There's quite a bit of commercial traffic like this on that river. I traveled almost 5,000 miles on the Great Loop in my 30' Bayliner 289 Hardtop in 2021. What an absolutely awesome experience!

The 1290 is such an absolute beast! 160 HP V-Twin makes such a beautiful sound.

This is a beautiful place to anchor over night while transiting the Intracoastal Waterway just north Georgetown SC. I stayed here one night in 2021 while traveling around the Great Loop.

I met Wayne in Sault Ste. Marie at the George Kemp Marina while I was on the Great Loop in July 2021. He repowered this boat a couple years ago with twin LS1 Corvette Engines.

Stopped for the night in downtown Hampton, VA while passing by on "the Great Loop" in May 2021. This guy cracked me up. He ended up catching dinner though ... from his back porch!

On the Blue Ridge Parkway just north of Roanoke is a beautiful 7 mile ridge where you are treated to really pretty alternating views east over the Virginia piedmont and west over the Shenandoah Valley into West Virginia. The Appalachian Trail also crosses the parkway several times over this ridge so you frequently see through hikers at the overlooks. It's a great area to drive slowly and soak in the views!
