it started in the UK from before 1915 to 1927 & then in the usa 1923 -1941 & 1981-1988 & then 1993 - 2007 but by 2004 the "term" was only used in denied court papers & some blogs & at no banks or finacial procedings are currently using the word in the usa

june 30 2023 Nigel Farage claimed Coutts denied him business bank services as a "politically exposed person"

July 18 2023 the bank said he was a "significant reputational risk" due to "alleged Russia connections" etc

the uk papers then used the OLD term “debanking” as a dog whistle for "persecuting" the rich

Halloween 2023 Collins English Dictionary made a new British English
entry for the act of depriving a person of banking facilities = Debanking
