"Hunter" was one of the most popular cop shows of the '80s until the BS Politically Correct era began by pussy Boomers. It starred Fred Dryer as Detective Sergeant Rick Hunter and Stepfanie Kramer as his partner Detective Sergeant Dede “The Brass Cupcake” McCall. The duo took on pimps, pushers, creeps, and killers on the streets of Los Angles for six seasons, dealing out their own brand of tough justice. Kramer left the series after the sixth season to pursue other opportunities. After she left, Hunter was paired with two other female officers, but the show was never able to recapture the original chemistry. It was eventually cancelled in 1991 after the 7th season.
Hunter strove to bring the action and sensibilities of "Dirty Harry" and other renegade cop movies to the small screen. It was created by Frank Lupo. Lupo, along with his creative partner Stephen J. Cannell, had a hand in many successful television shows from the 70s, 80s, and 90s — including "The Greatest American Hero", "The A-Team", "Riptide", and "Wiseguy".
Lupo brought in frequent collaborator Mike Post to compose the show’s distinctive theme. Post composed the music for many of the most popular shows in television history from "the Rockford Files" and "Hill Street Blues" to "L.A. Law" and various incarnations of "Law & Order." Yes, he is the man who gave the world the "Law & Order" “dun dun”.
