Assetto Corsa | 2017 Dodge Viper ACR Nurburgring Record Attempt! | Viper Week 2021
Bad news! Viper Week is coming to a close :(((((. It's been fun pimping out nothing but Viper content, however, it's (beyond) time for me to return to normal CCC duties. Before I leave though, here is one final video in the aforementioned week that I hope you enjoy.
More details for those wondering:
So, I'm sure some of you have seen that I ran the 'Ring on the optimum setting. I'm sure some of you are about to comment that using this setting is cheating and that a track is never at its optimum condition (both valid criticisms), but I want to say one thing: I didn't even reach either IRL lap time! Despite using this "unfair" setting, I was still 2 seconds off the real time, so I think this sin can be forgiven on the grounds that I couldn't take full advantage of this setting.
I also ran with ABS on. I know some people have a thing about using ABS when it comes to racing and perhaps even hotlapping (and I'm sure ABS was off for the real run) but I didn't want to run with it off, so I didn't.
Fuel was at the standard 30 liters, which is funny because I would've run at 20 or 15 liters for the reduced weight but completely forgot to change this setting.
Fuel and Tire consumption was off, because I didn't want to deal with this setting either (front tire consumption was quite a problem for the real lap time attempt).
The wheel I use is a Logitech G920 (the Xbox version of the G29) with the H-pattern shifter. While you can't see my clutch inputs in the pedal box, know that I did not drive the car in sequential mode and was indeed heel-toe-ing my way through many braking zones (as well as lifting for my upshifts).
The mod used here is a Gen V Viper mod from BZ SimWorks called striker pack (here's the link for the video: https://youtu.be/FhAlX5AZ-yA ). Without this mod I wouldn't have been able to truly try my hand at this crazy challenge! Thanks again for putting the Gen V into Assetto :D!
