Kri Kri Ibex is the smallest of all Capra, bred from the great lord of Asian mountains - the bezoar ibex. It was brought to Europe by ancient Thracian tribes and settled in nowadays Greece territory where it lived on islands in seas. Its name comes from president Roosevelt and his small size; this Lilliputian animal has evolved into a kind of bezoar ibex that mainly feeds low-nutrition plants due to their limited food and water resources.
Purebred Kri Kri Ibex have almost gone extinct. Their hunting is difficult due to jagged rocks and thorny bushes, while hunters must deal with four-day hunting sessions and limited hours per day. The next challenge hunters face is the weapon itself: a smoothbore firearm – a shotgun..
In order to make it more difficult for hunters, the rules forbid their use of any optical instruments. The third challenge is the weather: wind blows from the open sea, and waves are deadly while ships may wreck if caught in shallows or rocks close by. However, deep waters remain with a depth of 5 kilometers just a mile away from the island! Despite all these difficulties - just like what was done by Ancient Olympic Games winners - we will celebrate those who managed to survive and conquer obstacles and get their trophies as our ancestors did back then at Olympia.
