On the 24th of July 2023, Officers responded to a call of domestic violence. Apparently, a father and his son got into an argument that turned physical. When officers arrive on scene, they try de-escalating the situation and finding out what exactly happened there tonight.

A 74-year-old Ohio woman who was a victim of an online scam allegedly tried to remedy her financial issues by robbing a credit union, police said.

Ann Mayers was arrested in her home in Hamilton, Ohio, after the Fairfield Township Police Department said she robbed an AurGroup Credit Union. The credit union's employees told police that a woman entered the bank on April 19 and "demanded money while displaying a handgun," police said in a Facebook post.

While at Mayers' home, police found the 2014 silver Hyundai Elantra she was allegedly driving during the robbery, according to the post. Mayers admitted to the robbery when police arrived at the house, so officers subsequently took her into custody, the department said.

Detectives with Fairfield Township police found a handgun in Mayers' vehicle, the Facebook post said.

Before the alleged robbery, Mayers had no criminal history, police said. She's been charged with aggravated robbery with a firearm and tampering with evidence, which are both felonies, according to the department.

It is unclear from Butler County court records if Mayers retained legal counsel for her criminal case.

Police learned Mayers may have been a scam victim after detectives spoke with her family, who told them she was sending money to an "unidentified individual," Sgt. Brandon McCroskey said in an email to USA TODAY.

"In that aspect, some may see her as a 'victim.' Unfortunately, Ann chose to victimize several other people in the bank by robbing it with a firearm as a remedy for her situation," McCroskey said.

If true, McCroskey called Mayers' situation "very sad and unfortunate." Regardless, Mayer "took the time to plan this robbery as evidence shows she removed her license plate from her car and tried to remove a bumper sticker," the sergeant said.

"She also reportedly spoke to family members about robbing banks in the days leading up to the robbery, but the family did not take her comments seriously," according to McCroskey.

Mayers is currently being housed at the Butler County Jail, inmate records show. She'll remain at the jail until her initial court appearance, police said.

A violent confrontation between a Tucson SWAT team and a wanted individual, as reported by the Pima County Regional Critical Incident Team, resulted in the suspect taking his own life after firing hundreds of rounds on March 10.

At about 9:45 a.m., Tucson police were following up on an investigation of 38-year-old Jesus Mendivil regarding a recent report of domestic violence, according to the team of investigators spearheaded by Pima County Sheriff's Department and Oro Valley Police.

Tucson police had enough probable cause to arrest Mendivil on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to investigators, Tucson officers observed Mendivil entering a residence near Dodge Boulevard and Fort Lowell Road. They attempted to make contact with him, but Mendivil ignored their attempts for several hours.

As Mendivil remained inside, the residence was evacuated, and police obtained a search warrant. Hostage negotiators were deployed over a public address system in an attempt to defuse the situation.

Investigators said five hours of failed negotiation lead the Tucson SWAT team to make the decision to breach the home's front door. Mendivil responded with gunfire at law enforcement, resulting in a gunfight.

Investigators stated that according to Tucson police policy, officers are permitted to discharge their firearms toward a known safe and unoccupied area to disrupt or alter the suspect's behavior while continuing to manage the threat. This tactic is exclusively authorized for use by SWAT team members with specialized training and only in extreme circumstances. This strategy was employed by SWAT to return fire, retreat from the residence, and deploy nonlethal options.

Mendivil continued shooting at offices in "sustained bursts" during the deployment of nonlethal equipment, according to the investigators.

The escalating situation prompted Tucson police to seek assistance from the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety to resolve the standoff. The Sheriff's Department evacuated a nearby park that was at risk due to the gunfire.

SWAT teams breached the exterior wall of the house after several more hours of failed negotiations and continued gunfire from Mendivil, according to authorities.

The principal of a high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has been replaced and multiple employees have been put on administrative leave as the district investigates a drag queen show that took place during prom.

Earlier this week, the chief of Albuquerque Public Schools, Channell Segura, sent a letter to parents confirming the performance occurred during April 20's prom and said an investigation would determine how it happened and how it may have affected students.

Segura was unavailable for comment Friday. She did not say in the letter whether the replacement of Atrisco Heritage Academy High School's principal was related to the drag performance.

I observed a white Toyota Camry drive through the intersection against the red light. I immediately activated my emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop on the white Toyota Camry. Upon my arrival behind the white Toyota Camry displaying Georgia plates, the violator stopped in the roadway. I activated my PA system to tell the violator to move out of the road and into the Wendy’s parking lot, to which the driver complied. As we move forward the violator continue to pass through Wendy’s parking lot at a low speed and then back onto Piedmont Circle. The violator finally pulled into MaMa’s parking lot and pulled around back. After pulling through the parking lot, the violator failed to yield an accelerated onto Piedmont Road initiating a pursuit. The violator made a right onto Piedmont Road from the MaMas
parking lot and then a slight right onto Piedmont Ave, where he did
not stop for two red lights. The violator finally made a right onto Rock

failing to slow or stop for traffic bumps in the roadway. The violator
made a quick right onto Monroe Drive from Rock Springs Road
without stopping for the stop sign. The violator continued his reckless
driving to the point that I could not see where he traveled.
Upon reaching the intersection of Monroe Drive and Wimbledon

of the road with the lights turned off. I quickly stopped to back up and
pull up behind the violator’s vehicle, but he must have noticed me
because I could see the driver side door opening. I quickly exited my
patrol vehicle and pursued the violator, who had already exited his
vehicle and was actively fleeing on foot. Upon getting close to the
violator, he toward a large bushy area and then doubled back
towards his vehicle.
The violator then fell on his own; I began giving verbal
commands to get down and turn on his stomach, which he ignored. I
deployed my X2 Taser striking the violator in the back area, it was
effective, but the violator still resisted and began trying to run again. I
deployed my second cartridge due to the first set falling off. Upon the
second strike, the violator fell and still ignored my commands after the taser stopped. I had to go hands-on to get him under arrest.
The violator laid on his stomach, and I bent down to place one
handcuff on the left wrist. Once I did that, the violator began to resist
and started screaming. I notified Troop C Communications that I was
in a 10-10(fight) with the violator. I was trying to gain compliance by
twisting the left handcuff on the violator’s wrist, but he still ignored it
and continued to resist actively. Finally, I was able to hold the
violator down until several officers arrived to aid me.
Upon placing the violator under arrest, I immediately noticed a
small-caliber handgun that fell off the violator during the struggle. An
ambulance for the violator was then called.

A Georgia sheriff’s office has released bodycam footage of the crucial moment in which deputies saved a man’s life after he overdosed on fentanyl.

On March 14, around 3 p.m., Oconee County Dep. Glenn was called to Puritan Road to exchange custody of an arrestee with Athens-Clarke County police.

The arrestee was identified as Quintellus Clarke.

Deputies said Clarke was wanted on an Oconee County misdemeanor probation violation charge for shoplifting.

As Glenn was traveling toward the jail, Clarke told Glenn, “I swallowed something.”

Glenn asked, “You swallowed fentanyl?” She continued, “How long ago?”The sheriff’s office said, the man slumped over in the backseat and began gasping loudly.

Video captures the moment Glenn administered naloxone to Clarke.

Glenn can be heard saying “Talk to me” multiple times while she and other deputies tried to wake Clarke up.

Moments later deputies gave Clarke another dose of naloxone.

First responders arrived and Clarke was taken to the hospital—no word on his condition.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, naloxone temporarily stops the effects of opioids and helps a person resume breathing after an overdose.

On March 22, 2022, in Dunwoody, Georgia, a police officer on patrol observed an SUV driving in the wrong direction, directly into oncoming traffic. The officer turned on the sirens and pulled the vehicle over, concerned about safety.

Approaching the SUV, the officer immediately smelled alcohol coming from the driver, who explained that her license was suspended due to a previous DUI. She mentioned she needed to pick up her child from daycare and had driven the wrong way due to traffic frustrations.

The officer asked about her drinking, and she initially claimed to have had just one drink, insisting she wasn't drunk. However, she later admitted to having consumed two drinks.

The officer conducted a sobriety test, which she failed, leading to her arrest for DUI. At the police station, she agreed to a breath test, which showed her blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit.

As a result of this eventful encounter, the driver faced multiple charges, including DUI, reckless driving, and driving with a suspended or revoked license. She was taken to Dekalb County Jail, marking an unexpected turn of events on that day.
