COPS SAYS THIS WAS FUN
I observed a white Toyota Camry drive through the intersection against the red light. I immediately activated my emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop on the white Toyota Camry. Upon my arrival behind the white Toyota Camry displaying Georgia plates, the violator stopped in the roadway. I activated my PA system to tell the violator to move out of the road and into the Wendy’s parking lot, to which the driver complied. As we move forward the violator continue to pass through Wendy’s parking lot at a low speed and then back onto Piedmont Circle. The violator finally pulled into MaMa’s parking lot and pulled around back. After pulling through the parking lot, the violator failed to yield an accelerated onto Piedmont Road initiating a pursuit. The violator made a right onto Piedmont Road from the MaMas
parking lot and then a slight right onto Piedmont Ave, where he did
not stop for two red lights. The violator finally made a right onto Rock
Springs Road, where the violator began driving recklessly while
failing to slow or stop for traffic bumps in the roadway. The violator
made a quick right onto Monroe Drive from Rock Springs Road
without stopping for the stop sign. The violator continued his reckless
driving to the point that I could not see where he traveled.
Upon reaching the intersection of Monroe Drive and Wimbledon
Road, I noticed the white Toyota Camry parked on the opposite side
of the road with the lights turned off. I quickly stopped to back up and
pull up behind the violator’s vehicle, but he must have noticed me
because I could see the driver side door opening. I quickly exited my
patrol vehicle and pursued the violator, who had already exited his
vehicle and was actively fleeing on foot. Upon getting close to the
violator, he toward a large bushy area and then doubled back
towards his vehicle.
The violator then fell on his own; I began giving verbal
commands to get down and turn on his stomach, which he ignored. I
deployed my X2 Taser striking the violator in the back area, it was
effective, but the violator still resisted and began trying to run again. I
deployed my second cartridge due to the first set falling off. Upon the
second strike, the violator fell and still ignored my commands after the taser stopped. I had to go hands-on to get him under arrest.
The violator laid on his stomach, and I bent down to place one
handcuff on the left wrist. Once I did that, the violator began to resist
and started screaming. I notified Troop C Communications that I was
in a 10-10(fight) with the violator. I was trying to gain compliance by
twisting the left handcuff on the violator’s wrist, but he still ignored it
and continued to resist actively. Finally, I was able to hold the
violator down until several officers arrived to aid me.
Upon placing the violator under arrest, I immediately noticed a
small-caliber handgun that fell off the violator during the struggle. An
ambulance for the violator was then called.
