The six tracks on this EP have a harsh, industrial feel that isn't really typical, and sound more like Autechre than Aphex Twin.

Richard James suffers from asthma and chose to make a pair of EPs on this theme. Ventolin is a proprietary inhaler treatment for the disease and Salbutamol the name of the active chemical ingredient in Ventolin. The opening 'Salbutamol Mix' features a continuous high-pitched tone from beginning to end. This is meant to emulate tinnitus which is alleged to be a side-effect of Salbutamol. This is off-putting for most people who find the track unlistenable but maybe that's the idea.

'The Coppice' is the name of a pub in Richard James' home town of Redruth, Cornwall and the other tracks are named after small Cornish villages.
