LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva asked and was granted permission by California Governor Gavin Newsom to close down all gun shops in the county or forbid them from selling guns only to those individuals in Law Enforcement and security.

Second Amendment rights (and debate) aside, why is it that only the government would be allowed to purchase firearms, don't they already own them to begin with, ie, it comes with the nature of the job. If you have a department issues service weapon in the case of law enforcement, then why are you allowed to purchase another gun but the next person isn't, something worth considering.
The Sheriff cited businesses not adhering to social distancing and cited the potential for the rise in domestic violence as more people are at home. If you really care about domestic violence, why not close the liquor stores, or that the very least, make it a combo deal, you can buy a gun if you buy weed as well.....weed mellows you out, alcohol doesn't, for most people.
