When you start a war with someone, you’ve declared to the world that persuasion, reason,
civility, and rights, can no longer settle your differences… that means you have essentially
forfeited the defining characteristics of civilization for violence. That’s a hard truth for a college
kid wrapped in privilege, figuring out where his intersection on the oppression hierarchy is while
sipping his double mocha frap at Starbucks to grasp… 'why can’t war be friendly?' he says to no
one in particular as he wraps himself in the Palestinian flag to chant ‘from the river to the sea,
Palestine will be free.’
